The DOJ Civil Rights Division Employment Section’s Role in Desegregating America’s Workforce and Developing Transformative Law

Although much has been written about the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s role in enforcing Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the story of the Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Employment Litigation Section’s work has never been told. 

Through filmed oral history-style interviews and archival and legal research, The Living Civil Rights Law Project involves a weaving of legal, political, and organizational history that will show, ultimately, how a dedicated, cohesive unit of talented civil rights lawyers changed America.
